Lee County Florida offers variety of gated communities. Some are tailored to boaters while others to golfers. Still others strictly highlight the exquisite nature, bountiful birds and wildlife that grace our area. Truly there is something that will fit everyone's taste and budget.

For the golfer there are three types of golfing communities; Equity membership, bundled golf and unbundled golf.

Equity golf is your typical gated community where an equity membership can be purchased as an option or it could be mandatory in some communities. When it comes time to move again you can sell the equity in the membership at the current rate.

In a bundled community the cost of playing golf is paid in the association fees. There is no initial cost to purchase a membership. The monthly or quarter fees can total $2000-$4000 per year for golfing privileges far less than the $30,000 to over $100,000 that some golf course memberships can cost.

There are over 150 golf courses in Lee and Collier County. Everything from beginner, executive and PGA quality championship courses. Local course are home to several PGA and LPGA events as well as the qualifying tour. Most courses have 3-5 sets of tee boxes to challenge golfers of all skill levels.

Gated Communities for boaters offer wet and dry slips to accomodate all types and styles of boaters. The new causeway bridge leading over to Sanibel and Captiva Islands will eliminate the draw bridge and put the clearance for the Gulf of Mexico gateway to over 70 feet when making way out of the Caloosahatchee River.
